Aboriginal Contemporary Dance
Learning about Aboriginal culture – that is, Australian culture - is something that all Australians should embrace and acknowledge.
Running since 2013, Aboriginal Contemporary Dance workshop is a 45-minute journey connecting Aboriginal music and culture with dance!
The workshop uses music and body movement to deepen your insight to cultural and contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander life. Together, we dance freely to a range of indigenous contemporary and pop music genres.
We use dance as a tool to express our own unique physical interpretations of Aboriginal culture, so that we can easily retain and remember what we learn about Aboriginal culture. The workshop can be either a choreography, freeform or both.
There are no dance steps and no “right” or “wrong” ways to move – so whether you have danced for years, or haven’t a single rhythmic-bone in your body, we will guide you to feel comfortable with your body and mind.

Aboriginal Contemporary Dance workshop is suitable for organisations seeking to immerse their staff or social groups in the celebration and acknowledgment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. This is particularly suitable for nationally significant dates such as National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC week. This workshop is also a great team-building opportunity, allowing participants to "break the ice", bond and connect in a fun and social context.
We have facilitated this workshop for corporate and recreational organisations such as Sydney Opera House, Green Building Council of Australia, 107 Projects Redfern and Happy Buddha Yoga Retreats.
